This gorgeous new poster by Peter Crnokrak (The Luxury of Protest) sure doesn’t disappoint. It’s a 720mm X 1020mm dual-sided screen print. One side printed in matte black ink, the other side printed in matte white ink. The poster was printed by K2 Screen London on GFSmith Peregrina Classics Midas dual-sided 120 gsm paper and has this awesome gold sheen when viewed at angle. I have a copy and it’s freakin’ amazing.
Not only is the printing method unique and interesting, but so is the process used to achieve the design. Here’s a description:
“Maths Dreamed Universe” is a quantitative visualisation of the manner within which elemental forms in nature order themselves. The graph was created using generative Python code and maps numbers 0 to 100,001 arranged in a logarithmic spiral. The form of the spiral is determined by the Golden Angle subtension of a circle that distributes numbers from the centre (0) to the outer edge (100,001). The pattern that results is frequently found in nature, as in floral organs, and has been documented since Archimede’s time.

This specimen booklet of Norm’s excellent typeface LL Replica is incredibly detailed and beautifully designed. The specimen documents the entire design and development process of the typeface, as well as the problems encountered during the process. The booklet also includes a complete character map.

We’re all familiar with the silver Objectified poster, but Michael C. Place designed a second version with a white background and silver objects and black text that wasn’t used. It’s now being released as a limited edition letterpress, printed in metallic black and silver ink, on Crane’s Lettra 300gsm paper. Sounds like heaven.
It’s being printed by the awesome Brooklyn based Coeur Noir Letterpress, the same folks that printed the Helvetica poster and my son’s baptism invitation. They do stellar work.
Only 100 will be printed and you can grab one for $125.
When it comes to lifestyle brands, there are two companies that stand out from the rest. One is Apple, the other is a small but awesome company called Nooka. I’ve written about them before and their excellent line of timepieces. The company was born in 1997 by artist and designer, Matthew Waldman.
Recently Matthew and his team launched a few new products that expand the brand and will change the way you think about other objects. The new products are a Nooka fragrance, Asset Organizer and Strip.
I had the pleasure of sampling the fragrance when I took a tour of the Nooka office and it smells great. The Asset Organizer is a system of containers much like a wallet and the Strip is a belt featuring an innovative snap and release closure system designed and developed by Nooka. What stands out the most from these products is their simplistic design and function and the innovative thinking behind each them. Nooka is slowing becoming my favorite brand and I look forward to future products.
A Hello t-shirt was inevitable. The concept works on a shirt and I must say it turned out great. Working with Buddy Carr on this project has been a dream come true and it is great when the client just gets it. Buddy gets it.
The shirt is now available for $22 plus shipping and is also available as a package which includes the Hello Skateboard.
