9-11

In remembrance of those we lost 7 years ago. Where were you when it happened?

I was sleeping. The day before I had been laid off from an ad agency I’d been working at for a few years. Big merger, you know the drill. Anyway, that night, for some odd reason I shut off my cell phone and locked the door to my room. My wife, who was my girlfriend at the time, was trying to call me to tell me that she was ok since she worked in Manhattan. She couldn’t get through to me. I slept while the city was in chaos. I was awoken by the sound of my cousin pounding on my door. When I opened the door she had this look of dread on her face and told me that two planes crashed into the towers and one of the them went down. She said it was an act of terrorism. I imagined the tower falling over like a tree and destroying multiple city blocks. I ran to the TV and saw what had happened. I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. I never imagined something like this happening in the city I was born and raised.

At that time I lived in a quite area of Queens. I remember going outside to see if there was chaos on the streets. There wasn’t. It was like any other day. It was such an erie feeling to see all that madness happening on TV, only a few miles away, and then looking out my window to see a warm, sunny, quite day.

It’s a day I will never forget for the rest of my life.

Nike Air Jordan IV

I pull inspiration from all sorts of things in life, not only graphic design, and one example of these inspirations is this legendary pair of sneakers, the Nike Air Jordan IV’s. Originally released in 1988, the IV’s were re-released this weekend and I picked up two pairs since no one knows when they’ll be released again, if ever.

The simple, minimal design is still perfect 20 years later, making them one of the best designed sneakers in history.

They’re pretty much sold-out but Finishline just restocked a few more sets so grabbed them before they’re gone.

AisleOne On Vacation

I need to unwind and the 4th of July weekend seems like the perfect time. So I’ll be MIA the next few days, probably laying in a pool and eating BBQ, but no worries, I’ll be back first thing Monday morning with some nice goodies.

I want to wish all the US readers out there a safe and happy 4th of July. Enjoy.

Pantone Espresso Cups

Since I’m a full blooded Italiano, I drink espresso like there was no tomorrow. I love it in the morning, I love it in the afternoon and I love it after dinner. My wedding favor was a nice espresso machine I imported from Italy with a bag of ground espresso. I love it ok!?

So imagine how excited I was when I saw this awesome set of Pantone espresso cups. Then imagine how pissed I was when I found out that they’re only available in the UK. W2 Products doesn’t ship outside the EU and I can’t seem to find anyone in the US that carried them. F-ing great!
