Rosmarie Tissi

Last night, while looking through my copy of Neue Grafik/New Graphic Design/Graphisme actual, I discovered the wonderful work of Rosmarie Tissi. She was born in Switzerland, then studied design in Zürich, and has been a member of AGI since 1974. In 1968, she formed O&T studio with Siegfried Odermatt.

I really love how she blends the swiss style, with a more abstract style using a lot of geometric shapes. You can see more of her work here, here, here, here and here.

Coast Modern & Build — Live Through Architecture Not For It

Build Coast Modern Poster

To kickoff the UK launch of the documentary film Coast Modern the filmmakers invited Build to exhibit a series of prints designed exclusively for the event. Build designed the poster above for the show, that will take place at Mead Carney gallery in London. The A1 poster is a two color screen print on Lustralux 215gsm paper, and printed by K2 Screen.

The exhibit will also feature a very limited set of 5 typographic prints, each with a word or statement taken directly from the film.

The filmmakers and the Build team will be at the show, and the film will be screened on Saturday 14th June at 4pm. The prints will be available for purchase at the shop, and on Build’s shop.

Vignelli: Oppositions

Oppositions

Massimo Vignelli is known for many pieces of work that are now famous, like the American Airlines logo, the Stendig Calendar, and the NYC Subway Map. But one of my favorites works of his is the design for Oppositions. I’ve written about it before. It was an architectural journal published from 1973 to 1984, and it’s an excellent display of balance, composition, and hierarchy.

I figured this is the perfect time to remember this piece of work.
