Graphic Design for Non-profit Organizations

Graphic Design for Non-profit Organizations

AisleOne reader, Sean Wolcott, wrote in to tell me that Massimo Vignelli has given him permission to distribute a high-res PDF of his book, Graphic Design for Non-profit Organizations. This rare book is by Vignelli and Peter Laundry, and was published in 1980 in partnership with AIGA. The book focuses on design and best practices for non-profit organizations, but the content is a great resource in general and the teachings can be applied pretty much anywhere. There are sections on grids, typography, formats, logotypes, and color, just to name a few.

A big thank you to Massimo and Sean for making this valuable resource available to all.

You can download the PDF from here.

Wim Crouwel Poster

Wim Crouwel Poster

Not sure how I missed this. Here’s a great poster featuring a collection of poster designs by the legendary designer, Wim Crouwel. The poster was designed to coincide with the Wim Crouwel – A Graphic Odyssey exhibit, and it includes text by Adrian Shaughnessy.

You can purchase a copy over at Print Process.

Unpublished Peter Seitz

Peter Seitz

The folks at Kind Company made me aware of this Flickr set featuring work from Peter Seitz that wasn’t published in the book, Peter Seitz: Designing a Life. I wasn’t aware that he designed the Braun letterhead under the direction of Otl Aicher. Very nice.

Braun Brochures

Braun Brochures

I stumbled upon these Braun brochures on the Das Programm’s Flickr and I love them. There are two distinct designs at work here, but they’re both well-done. Great photography, color and the product is king. Wish I knew who designed these, but if I had to guess I’d say they were done by Wolfgang Schmittel. Anyone know for sure?
