Kelly 1:1/A Cover Version

kelly1.jpg

I’ve been searching endlessly for this catalogue designed by Experimental Jetset, featuring the work of Ellsworth Kelly, but I haven’t had any luck in finding it. If anyone knows where I can purchase it or if you have an extra copy, shoot me an email and I’ll be indebted to you forever.

BAQ Rounded

BAQ Rounded

Alex Haigh wrote in to tell me about a new typeface he’s created called BAQ Rounded that is available for purchase. His portfolio is always worth a look.

iPhone Web Clip Icons

iPhone Web Clip Icons

With the introduction of Web Clips in the iPhone 1.1.3 a new craze as been born for Web Clip icons. You can create custom icons for sites you own, sites in subdirectories and sites to which you have no server access to, like The New York Times. Very exciting indeed! Hopefully soon everyone will get on the bandwagon and create their own icons, but in the meantime I’ve gone ahead and created some for popular sites. I’ve created icons for Flickr, FFFFound, Media Temple, Bank of America, Fandango, IMDB and The New York Times. You can download a zip file which includes all of these icons. I’ve also set up an icon for AisleOne so when you create a Web Clip to this site, it will automatically use it.

Here’s a little tip if you want to create some on your own: The default size seems to be 57x57 but it was later discovered that a 60x60 image creates a much shaper icon.

A Portfolio That Aggregates And Consumes

Aggregate And Consume

This site mainly focuses on the design aspects of a portfolio but here’s one where the technology behind it is unique (the design work is good too). Andrew Sliwinski, a graphic and user experience designer living near Detroit, has developed a framework using Yahoo! Pipes that aggregates and consumes data from a network of nodes (Flickr, Blogspot, Twitter, Del.icio.us) and displays it on his site. So when the network is updated, the content or data gets added to the portfolio. Andrew is basically using these sites as a back-end CMS tool to edit and manage his portfolio. Brilliant.

You can read a detailed explanation of the technology here.

Paul Rand Flickr Group

Paul Rand Flickr Group

The folks at Grain Edit have created a great flickr group around the work of design legend Paul Rand. There’s already some excellent pieces but if you have more join up and add them or if you appreciate the work join up as well.
