I love this double-sided A2 poster, by Australia based Hofstede Design, to promote Tobias Frere-Jones’ visit to Melbourne for a conference. Simple and works both folded and opened.

I’ve been working on a 2010 calendar poster that I plan to have letterpressed and figured that it would also work well as a wallpaper. So I put some wallpapers together based on the poster design that features a 2010 calendar and the year written out in English, Italian, French and German. Available in pink and white at 1920×1200.

Amsterdam based designer Hans Gremmen’s work is clean, beautiful and extremely well designed. He’s has an exceptional skill for composition and typography that make his designs shine. The poster pictured here is set in the lovely Franklin Gothic.

The previously unavailable typeface Pistilli Roman, designed by Herb Lubalin and John Pistilli, is now available as a font called Eloquent. As of now the only weight available is Regular but better than nothing. I’m looking for to using this gorgeous typeface in a future design.

Lubalin Now will be a new exhibit in the re-located Herb Lubalin Study Center of Design and Typography. I’m looking forward to this!
Herb Lubalin (1918–1981) is best known for his wildly illustrative typography and his groundbreaking work for the magazines Avant Garde, Eros, and Fact. On view will be recent posters, publications and motion graphics by internationally recognized graphic designers that spotlight an emerging trend toward expressive lettering and typography. Original sketches, magazines, logotypes, and posters selected from the Lubalin Center Archive will illuminate Herb Lubalin’s influence on contemporary graphic design. Featured artists include Herb Lubalin, Justin Thomas Kay, Non-Format, Matt Owens, Alex Trochut, Post Typography and many more.
