Millimetr

Millimetr

As you may already know, photography is something that I have a passion for. I just don’t do enough of it, so I went ahead and created a blog called Millimetr where I’ll be posting my photos. It should be a nice motivator and hopefully it will get me to take more photos. Most of what will be featured will be taken with an iPhone 4S using a wonderful app called Mattebox. I’ll also feature photos taken with my Canon T2i, but I expect a majority of the photos to come from my iPhone since it’s always with me. There is a known quote, not sure who said it, that I believe to be true:

“The best camera is the one that’s with you.”

People stress about which camera to buy, but at the end of the day it’s about taking pictures. I’m hoping this works out to be true for me.

I’ve also whipped up a logo for the blog using the typeface Proxima Nova Extra Condensed by Mark Simonson.

Enjoy.

Hans G. Conrad: HfG Ulm

Hans conrad hfg ulm

AisleOne reader, René, was kind enough to write in to share his collection of photos taken by Hans G. Conrad, the first student at the Ulm School of Design / Hochschule für Gestaltung HfG Ulm. Conrad passed away several years ago, but before he did he gave René over 12,000 photos. About two years ago René began to upload the images to Flickr. A lot of really great photos already up there, like the one pictured here of Otl Aicher teaching a typography class. You’ll find a lot of other great design legends in the photos like Bayer, Eames and Bill.

What a great way of remembering such a historic school and influential designers.

Outliers Vol. I: Iceland

Outliers Vol1: Iceland

Tim Navis and Kim Høltermand are joining film collective Scenic and composer Deru to bring us Outliers: a beautifully packaged box set of film and music. The team will create a series of short films at various locations throughout Iceland, inspired by moments of discovery and chance occurrence. Scenic will edit a series of short films, featuring an original score by Deru and a full-length soundtrack featuring contributions from select musicians and contemporary composers. Tim and Kim will create an archival photo book and release a limited run of exclusive prints.

This sounds amazing. I’m personally in love with Tim’s and Kim’s photos, so this should be an incredible collection of images.

They put together a Kickstarter to help fund the project. Help fund it and you’ll get some limited edition goodies.
