’72 Munich Olympics Merchandise Catalog

Munich '72 merchandise catalog

Saw this ’72 Munich Olympics Merchandise Catalog over at the Creative Review blog and thought it was pretty neat. When we think of the Munich Olympics identity, we always think about the great posters, brochures and programs, but in fact there was a ton of other items that were just as great. Love those striped tote bags. All of these other goodies, along with this catalog, were created by the German firm, Fahnen-Fleck.

Braun Brochures

Braun Brochures

I stumbled upon these Braun brochures on the Das Programm’s Flickr and I love them. There are two distinct designs at work here, but they’re both well-done. Great photography, color and the product is king. Wish I knew who designed these, but if I had to guess I’d say they were done by Wolfgang Schmittel. Anyone know for sure?

Munich ’72 – Design Legacy

Munich '72 - Design Legacy

40 years ago, Otl Aicher and his team designed the revolutionary identity system for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. UCA Canterbury in the UK is celebrating this iconic work with an exhibition featuring posters, pictograms, information design, and range of print and promotion materials from the games. The exhibit will be held from June 29th – July 31st at the Herbert Read Gallery.

Eye Magazine also has a nice write-up of the exhibit, along with some photos.

BVD Identity

Bvd stationery

BVD has launched a new identity and a website with mobile optimized versions. They put together a nice little video showing off the new site. Looking sharp.

We have given ourselves a new design. BVD has appointed a new CEO, installed a new Chairman of the Board and welcomed a new Partner and in our minds an updated company requires an updated identity. Our new identity reflects our ambitions och represents our quality standards in all parts. Now we have a distinct logo with clean, geometrical lines. A logo that stands out, that is useable in all medias and, of course, easily recognized. Simplify to clarify!

Program Your 808 Posters

This is great. Program Your 808 is a series of posters by Rob Ricketts that show popular drum sequences that were programmed using the Roland TR-808 Drum Machine. The posters are beautiful and they also allow you to re-programme each sequence for your own pleasure.

You can grab a copy of the posters here.
