I recently started working on a new typeface. I’m still in the early stages but I do like where it’s going with the curved edges and slightly condensed design. The plan is the do a full upper & lower case set in bold and regular with a large x-height for the lower case characters.

I’m loving this new sans-serif called Replica by Norm. It was designed on a strict grid system and is available in the following weights: Regular, Italic, Light, Light Italic, Bold and Bold Italic. You can get the entire family for around $450 USD from Lineto.
I think this is the first time a typeface has had it’s own dedicated site. Metaserif.com is the site for the new font by Erik Spiekermann. It contains a great section on the story of Meta Serif.
Luke Hayman and Paula Scher of the New York Pentagram office have redesigned the Persian Gulf’s leading English language newspaper, the Khaleej Times. The new design makes use of the space saving typeface, Freight by Joshua Darden, and a wider 6 column grid.
I’d love to one day redesign a newspaper. Text and grid heavy project is paradise.
