Experimental jetset

Cooper Hewitt in NYC is hosting a talk with Experimental Jetset on September 16th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, at their Smithsonian Design Museum. You can get more info and reserve a spot on their website. Definitely an event you shouldn’t miss.

Cooper Hewitt welcomes acclaimed international graphic designers, Experimental Jetset, for an evening of conversation. Experimental Jetset was founded by Erwin Brinkers, Marieke Stolk, and Danny van den Dungen in Amsterdam in 1997. The designers are known for their idiosyncratic, seemingly systematic work, including the new identity for the Whitney Museum of American Art. Work by Experimental Jetset is represented in Cooper Hewitt’s permanent collection and is featured in our exhibition How Posters Work, open through January 24, 2016.

Timeless: Massimo Vignelli

Hey folks, I’ve been out of town for the last few weeks, which is why it’s been quiet around here. But I’m back and the posts will be back on a regular schedule.

Timeless: Massimo Vignelli is an exhibition curated by design studio Husmee, and Beatriz Cifuentes and Yoshiki Waterhouse, that honors the work of Massimo Vignelli. It’s open now until April 18, 2015 at the Okendo Cultural Centre in San Sebastián, Spain.

The exhibition includes original work from Vignelli and a series of posters designed by a select group of designers and design studios, that include Atlas, Toko, BVD, Hey Studio, Mash Creative, and Spin.

The lovely poster above was designed by Mash Creative.

Coast Modern & Build — Live Through Architecture Not For It

Build Coast Modern Poster

To kickoff the UK launch of the documentary film Coast Modern the filmmakers invited Build to exhibit a series of prints designed exclusively for the event. Build designed the poster above for the show, that will take place at Mead Carney gallery in London. The A1 poster is a two color screen print on Lustralux 215gsm paper, and printed by K2 Screen.

The exhibit will also feature a very limited set of 5 typographic prints, each with a word or statement taken directly from the film.

The filmmakers and the Build team will be at the show, and the film will be screened on Saturday 14th June at 4pm. The prints will be available for purchase at the shop, and on Build’s shop.
