Here is an excellent workbook designed by Rich Lyons for the Helvetica 50 exhibit. I asked Rich if it was for sale but unfortunately it was only a one-off. He did say that if there was enough interest he would make them available for sale. So if you dig this workbook, email Rich and let him know you want one!

viaLetter is a messaging service with a difference. With viaLetter you can send REAL letter messages to your friends or foes. Or you can use the letters in creative ways to create indoor or outdoor signage. I’m going to use them to spell my sons name on the wall of his room. Available typefaces are Bauer Bodoni™, Rockwell Condensed™, Helvetica Neue 75™ and Frankfurter™.

I created an iPhone version of the Helvetica wallpaper that I posted last week. You can grab it from the new Wallpaper section.

Linotype is hosting a poster contest to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Helvetica. They’ve received more than 1,000 submissions and I’ve never seen a bigger collection of crap in my entire life. 5 pages to be exact. Is there really this many crappy designers in the world? Fortunately, in the midst of this pile there are some really great designs and I’ve featured a few of them above. I really wanted to submit a design for this contest but I didn’t have the time which is unfortunate. Anyways, go vote!
