    Matthijs van Leeuwen

    December 14th, 2009

Matthijs van Leeuwen is a Netherlands based designer with a solid and diverse portfolio.

I really love portfolios like this. You can quickly scan the entire body of work and when you make a selection, you’re presented with a high-res photo of the piece. Those two elements are the key to a great online portfolio.

    Magdalena Czarnecki

Yesterday, I received an email from Magdalena Czarnecki that she’d updated her site with new work. I checked it out and was immediately impressed with her work so I told her that I’d post about it today. I wake up today only to find that her work has been posted on many of the popular blogs. So much for being the first but it does prove how good her work is.

Anyway, check out her work, it’s excellent.

I’m late to this, a ton of sites have already featured Hampus Jageland work and for good reason. It’s excellent. Hard to think this kid is a recent graduate.

    Year Of The Sheep

A few weeks ago I finished refreshing my personal site, Year of the Sheep. I’m getting a little tired with Flash, especially when it comes to updating, so this time around I used Indexhibit. Indexhibit is a web application used to build and maintain an archetypal, invisible website format that combines text, image, movie and sound. I personally love it. It’s easy as hell to use and update and the CSS is very flexible. Oh and it’s free. Definitely check it out.

And for those wondering, I picked the name cause I was born in 1979, the year of the sheep in the Chinese zodiac.

Alex Haigh wrote in to tell me about a new typeface he’s created called BAQ Rounded that is available for purchase. His portfolio is always worth a look.

A Portfolio That Aggregates And Consumes

    January 17th, 2008

This site mainly focuses on the design aspects of a portfolio but here’s one where the technology behind it is unique (the design work is good too). Andrew Sliwinski, a graphic and user experience designer living near Detroit, has developed a framework using Yahoo! Pipes that aggregates and consumes data from a network of nodes (Flickr, Blogspot, Twitter, Del.icio.us) and displays it on his site. So when the network is updated, the content or data gets added to the portfolio. Andrew is basically using these sites as a back-end CMS tool to edit and manage his portfolio. Brilliant.

You can read a detailed explanation of the technology here.
