Massimo Vignelli has updated his classic and beautiful 1972 NYC Subway Map design for 2008. I own an original and personally I think the original design is much better. The colors were a lot more interesting. This version seems to have the more boring colors we see today.

Interesting little project by 20 year old designer Kasper Ledet of a hand made type based on Helvetica. Kasper printed a pattern on sticker sheets and cut out the letters with a scalpel. Very nice.

FontFont have announced that they are to release Helvetica Serif, following the discovery of drawings of the typeface by Max Miedinger. The sketches which were discovered by Miedinger’s granddaughter have been redrawn to create the digital version shown above.

Dropclock is an beautiful clock screensaver that features numbers set in Helvetica dropping into water in super slow-motion. I bet you this bad boy is sucks up a lot of cpu and memory. It might just be worth it though.

Trip Print Press is a printer in Canada that prints with a letterpress. They do excellent work but it seems like they don’t have Helvetica in their type collection which is very unfortunate. Check out their Flickr page for more behind the scene photos.
