T-Star Typeface
April 19th, 2010Every now and again a condensed typeface comes around that simply knocks my socks off. T-Star by designer Michael Mischler is one of them. Originally designed for the book Los Logos, T-Star is a condensed sans-serif that features 9 weights and some interesting details like the Q. I love how simple and light the face feels overall.
You can check out the specimen here.

Polygon Typeface
June 17th, 2009Washington D.C. based designer Andy Babb has created Polygon, a typeface built on a strict grid of equilateral triangles. Lovely idea and execution. Designing a typeface on a triangle grid does create some interesting forms.
To go along with the typeface, Andy has designed a poster displaying Polygon in use. It’s screen printed with red and silver ink on pink 110lb paper. It’s gorgeous.

Neutraface Slab
May 14th, 2009I’ve always been a fan on the wonderful Neutrface typeface. It’s simple, clean and classical and the geometry gives it a balanced feel that is pleasing. It’s damn sexy, especially in the light weights.
So when I saw that House Industries released a Slab version, I was all giddy. I’ve recently been obsessed with Slab and Serif faces so this was instance love.
Neutraface Slab comes in five display weights and four text weights, including italics, as well as small caps and seven figure styles. The complete set will cost you $599.00, which isn’t so bad considering the amount of the weights you get. I might have to add this to my collection.

New Deal Typeface by Neville Brody
April 23rd, 2009Neville Brody and his team at Research Studios have designed a new typeface named “New Deal” for the upcoming Michael Mann film “Public Enemies”, starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale.
The typeface is inspired by the 1930’s era typography but with a modern edge and is being used for the one-sheet and film trailer.
It has a very nice industrial feel to it, almost along the lines of Soviet style typography.
