The Art of the Cassette

cassette graphics art

Fantastic collection of old cassette artwork. I’ve always loved the graphics found on cassette tapes from the 80s, but what stands out the most for me are the interesting color combinations. There’s a ton of great inspiration here.

Also, have a look at this Flickr set featuring a bunch of cassette inserts. So good.

Hugo & Cat – The BLK Book

hugo-cat-blk-book.jpg

Uk agency Hugo & Cat initially designed and produced the BLK Book as a Christmas gift for their clients. I’m lucky enough to have an early copy and it’s a superbly crafted book that just makes you want to crack it open and take a big whiff of the glue, ink and paper. It’s pieces like this that make me love the printed medium.

The book is hand finished in heavy ebony Colorplan paper, printed with gold and white foil by Generation Press.

The BLK Book will soon be available for purchase.

Invesco Perpetual Book by Browns

browns-invesco-perpetual.jpg

Creative consultancy Browns was kind enough to send me photos of their latest project: a limited edition book for Invesco Perpetual featuring beautiful photos by Magnum photographer Donovan Wylie. I’m a big fan of photos spanning across two pages, it really enhances the experience, especially when the images are this stunning. The vertical lines is also a nice touch, they reveal the underlying grid.

Here’s what Browns had to say about the book:

Working closely with photographer Donovan Wylie/Magnum, Browns have produced and designed a new limited edition book for Invesco Perpetual.

The resulting imagery from the shoot becomes part of Invesco’s image library and is used across all of their communications collateral.

This iconic flat top mountain was used by Browns when redesigning the Invesco global Identity in 2008.

I posted all of the high-res images of the book on Flickr.
