Sorry for the silence. Sandy took out my power, so haven’t had much internet access. I hope everyone in the NYC area made it through the storm ok.
Now for some design goodness. To Have And To Hold is an awesome Tumblr that features a collection of paper bags from the 70’s and 80’s. The collection is part of the Preston Polytechnic ephemera archive and is housed in their Library. Pretty cool.
Some very nice work from André Meca. My favorite is this London Guide set in Akzidenz Grotesk.
Arnaud Mercier, co-founder of Area 17, passed away last year and a great site was put together in his honor. I didn’t personally know Arnaud, but his work was a big influence on me. I’d always head over to Elixirstudio to get inspired. The work he did for Elan was my favorite.
Georg Staehelin studied under Armin Hofmann and Emil Ruder and later went to work at Total design with Wim Crouwel and Benno Wissing. Some interesting work. More at Thinking Form.
Not sure how I missed this. Here’s a great poster featuring a collection of poster designs by the legendary designer, Wim Crouwel. The poster was designed to coincide with the Wim Crouwel – A Graphic Odyssey exhibit, and it includes text by Adrian Shaughnessy.
