Press 1
July 21st, 2008Press 1 is a brochure featuring recent work printed by Team Impression. Printed on GF Smith Colourplan Yellow Sorbet 135gsm, Press 1 features work by Design Project, Spin, Saturday, Six and Made Thought.
I wish there were more detailed shots of the brochure but I checked the TI site and didn’t find any reference to it. I’d love to get a copy it as well.
UPDATE: I was sent some hi-res images from the guys at Six, so I’ll be posting them tomorrow.

Wine In A Can
July 18th, 2008I love the simple design of this wine can by swedish designers Jens Andersson and Jonas Forsman. I’m not sure how wine would taste from a can, but I’d definitely buy one for its aesthetic value.

Iconic Logo Designers
July 16th, 2008The talented chap David Airey has just launched a new site that documents the world’s most iconic logo designers, which includes one of my all-time favorite designers Otl Aicher.
Definitely check it out. It’s a great resource that’s growing each day.

Spreading The Love
July 15th, 2008You’ll notice a new tout in the left side bar linking the exceptional site Thinking For A Living. It’s not paid advertisement, I just love what Duane is doing with that site and more people need to head over there because it’s such a great resource for new and old designers. Duane is also joining AisleOne as an author and will be contributing when he can. So give him a warm welcome and spread the word about his site.

The Time Has Finally Come
July 11th, 2008I’m upgraded to this bad boy today. Last night I installed an unofficially version of the 2.0 software so I can play around with all the new apps and I must say this new phase of the iPhone is going to be revolutionary, not that the first phase wasn’t. The third party applications and games are mind blowing. Nothing you’ve ever seen on a mobile device.

Die Neue Gesellschaft

I’ve been searching for months and months now for a single copy of Die Neue Gesellschaft, a political magazine that was art directed by Helmut Schmid, but they seem to be extremely rare. I was able to get in touch with some people who curate Schmid’s work and they sent over some original scans of the covers which are just gorgeous. I’m trying to get them to send over more but they haven’t replied to me in a while. In the meantime drool over these. This design was first used in 1974 with issue #7 and remained in use until 1981.
Honestly, I would pay good money for a complete set of these. I’m so obsessed with them.

Unimark International
July 8th, 2008A simple site that takes you through a brief history of the world’s largest design firm, Unimark International. Founded by Ralph Eckerstrom and Massimo Vignelli, Unimark only lasted 13 years but some of the most famous corporate identities were born behind its doors. My favorite is the work done for Memorex.
