Nudge Your Elements
June 7th, 2007Interesting article by Khoi Vinh on padding your grid elements and not laying them right on a grid line. I don’t necessarily agree with this concept but it’s still an interesting insight. The situation he uses is very specific and I think it can be avoided if thought about before the creation of the grid.

CNN.com Beta
June 6th, 2007Seems like they are redesigning CNN.com and have a beta version of it live. It’s about freaking time! The current site is a really mess, no structure, no organization. I’m digging this beta version, a lot cleaner and easier to read. Well done. Now hurry up and launch it!

London 2012 Logo
June 5th, 2007Well it seems like everyone is talking about the new logo for the 2012 Olympics in London so I guess I’ll add in my 2 cents. Even though I’m not crazy about it I do love that they took a chance and did something risky instead of the same old sports style logo that we always see. I like the idea behind it but in my opinion it’s hard to read and the typeface just isn’t doing it for me. I get what feeling they’re trying to get accross here with the type, but I think there are much better options out there to choose from. The colors are working for me and the site feels really nice, but it does have a very trendy “the 80’s are back” feel to it all that won’t last forever. Good idea, but execution. You have to give credit to Wolff Ollins for being so brave. It’s definitely not boring.
It is silly how everyone is London is flipping out over this logo. They have even started a petition to have it redesigned. Stupid. Just accept it and over time you will get use to it.

Apple iPhone — June 29th!
June 4th, 2007Over the weekend Apple released 3 new iPhone ads that confirm that the iPhone will hit the masses on June 29th. I can not wait! These ads are simply amazing cause they show powerful this phone is. Nothing fancy about the ads, just the iPhone doing what it does best.
