I’m back kids. Hope everyone in the states had a good long Memorial Day weekend. To get back into the swing of things, here is some info on a book from Grafik Magazine that features 150 designers. It’s only £10 and you can order yourself a copy here. I’m sure there’s some great stuff in there.

Felix Heinen
May 24th, 2007Felix Heinen from Germany created two beautiful posters showing the behavior of people on social networking sites like Myspace. Really amazing visuals. I wish we could see full versions of the posters at a larger scale.
My final year project in information design. Two big (200cm x 90cm, 80 x 36 inch) posters show the variety and attitudes of members from an internet community like MySpace.
On the first poster you can see the functions used, as well as additional information such as age, educational background, family status, gender and how often they are logged in. So, all demographic data which are available from every member’s profile.
The second poster gives you an overview of the geographic position, based on a map. You can see where the members are distributed. The aim was to give the management the opportunity to know much more about the members than would have been possible with a simple scan of their database only.
I also transferred my design into a Flash-based computer program to navigate through all data, and wrote a fifty-page manual about my research.

May 20th, 2007The talented minds at The Big Spaceship has created a beautiful site for Vitamin Water. I love how they created a beautiful pattern with the bottles and colors and at the same time an intuitive navigation.

May 18th, 2007Lamosca is a top-notch design studio based in Barcelona. They have created some excellent typefaces and are also responsible for the popular Use Helvetica t-shirt.
