    Prada Marfa

I came across this site this morning and found it to be very interesting. Local artists have built a mini Prada boutique on an isolated road in western Texas which acts more like a scuplture than an actual retail store. Apparently the door is sealed. Very interesting marketing idea and I love the contrast between the modern design of the building and the high-fashion of the shoes against the rural uncivilized landscape. Not sure how much of a positive affect this will have on their brand since no one passes down that road. Very interesting and creepy at the same time.

Graphic design as a strategic business tool

The Gap, Herman Miller, Morningstar, and others that use graphic design as a strategic business tool, take advantage of an obvious, but nonetheless often ignored fact. Things that people see affect them.

It still amazes me that so many large companies (and small) ignore the visual aspects of their business. It almost seems like they just don’t care or think that it’s not important. Unknowingly to them, it is.

    Great article over at Aiga.org.

Most people will think this is ridiculous but not many realize how important Helvetica has been in the way we communicate. You’ve probably seen Helvetica more than once today. It’s everywhere and to think that it was created almost 50 years ago and how it is affecting our way of life now is pretty amazing.

Can’t wait to check this one out.
